Throughout my field experiences, building positive and productive relationships with my students and peers was crucial to supporting my students and their learning. The bonds I formed came naturally as I demonstrated empathy and genuine care throughout my daily interactions and conversations with students and peers, reflected in the four cards I received at the end of my field experiences. Despite being in the students’ classrooms for a short period of time, the farewell cards are a representation of the meaningful and positive relationships I built by acting consistently with fairness, respect, and integrity. The farewell cards reinforced my values of fostering relationships, such that I was able to collaborate with my students, other teachers, and support staff to build a warm and welcoming learning environment that honours cultural diversity and promotes intercultural understanding. I became a valued member of the school community.
